Inner Prayer

Heart Prayer, Soul Prayer, Ether Prayer, Healing Prayer

Excerpts

In order to let the prayer flow from our heart, we have to become still and turn off our thoughts completely. So that our thoughts move away from us, we listen to our breathing before praying and watch our body rhythm, which becomes more and more harmonious. Our breathing becomes calmer and our movements more harmonious, because the tormenting thoughts leave us. We reach a quiet body rhythm, because our breathing becomes deeper. When we have been able to let go of our thoughts, when they have left us, we no longer watch our breathing or our body rhythm. We are now ready to pray from our heart, to let forces of love flow. If it is not yet possible for us to pray the heart prayer, then we pray to within, until forces stir in our inner being which then pray through us. We pray into our inner being those things that burden and oppress us. We place our concerns on the altar of God.

Once we have reached inner stability, it will then pray within us. Selfless prayers will then rise without effort. It is a letting the inner powers come, which develop into prayer sensations and prayer thoughts. It prays through us. This heart prayer, combined with the streams of the soul, characterizes the state in which our prayer becomes clearly one with our thinking, feeling and wanting. And so, it is no longer the prayer from the intellect but the prayer from the uppermost layers of our spiritual consciousness. This transition from strenuous prayer, with the thinking and formulating associated with it, to free and spontaneous prayer is a deep, unmistakable experience in the innermost part of our being.

We have to find our way to the depths of our being, where the awakened soul is in constant adoration of God. Then the prayer will speak in us, no matter where we are—in our quiet room or in the noisy world. It prays in and through us. Then we have attained the nearness to God. The soul has awakened in God, and the person is aligned with God. This means that soul and person are near the eternal consciousness, God.

The one who has practiced the heart prayer with utmost discipline and concentration and exercises to attain stillness senses the love of the all-ruling Spirit. Through the power of this love, he finds his way to this unceasing prayer, which rises at any time, any place, out of his inner being, giving thanks, honor and praise to God.

God is everywhere, for the spirit of God is in us and in everything that surrounds us. Nothing exists without the eternal power, God. For this reason, we can constantly speak with God, be it during housework, at our job, on the road, on a bus or train, or on a walk. In every activity, God, the all-power, is active in and around us. When we act nobly and kindly, when our sensations and thoughts are pure, then this is likewise a prayer, for we fulfill the law of love. In this way, too, it prays through us.
