The Sermon on the Mount: The Path to a Higher Ethics and Morals

The Inner Path - Collective Volume

Seven levels in one

Excerpts

The pilgrim on the path to the kingdom of the inner being pays attention to his body rhythm:
Everyone shall now try to harmonize himself from without to within. This means that one should pay attention not only to his thoughts, but also to his body movements. And so, we avoid hectic movements. Fast, disharmonious walking leads to outer and inner disharmony. This does not mean that we should give up a dynamic life, the dynamism of the body or that we should stop being dynamic! Oh no, just the contrary! We aspire to the inner dynamism, to the spiritual dynamism, to the noble, rhythmic movements of soul and body. It is not the hectic and disharmonious, the externally directed activity, or a life under the pressure to succeed, which bring success, but the devotion to the divine, to the power that streams through our inner and outer being and brings clarity into our thinking.

When we become accustomed to walking in an upright and harmonious way, then we will raise our eyes from the ground and look more often into the distance. In time, the effect is that we think more clearly, because the cosmic powers flow increasingly into is. Through an upright posture, by looking into the distance, and through a life that strives toward God, we participate more and more with the divine works in all forms of life. Gloomy thoughts cling to the ground. Heavy vibrations drag along the ground. Higher forces flow in the vastness of the cosmos. To the one who strives toward God, even the conscious contemplation of a flower or a meadow of flowers, the contemplation of trees and bushes, gives inner refreshment and rest, as well as alignment with God, the stillness. The Eternal reveals Himself only in the stillness. We should also contemplate the starry heavens and the sun with its rays. We take what we are contemplating into ourselves. This brings peace, trust, hope, confidence and, again, alignment with the Highest. We become more still and more God-conscious, because we feel His power and His presence. This also allows us to experience that noble thoughts, pure words, purified senses and spiritual dynamism enable us to work in a balanced and rhythmic way — which has nothing to do with a meditative attitude at work: It is a working with the inner power, without hectic activity, yet purposefully and in awareness of our goal. The Original Christian Development of Consciousness texts are a spiritual help for the brothers and sisters who prepare for the Inner Path, so that they can fulfill more easily the tasks for the refinement of soul and person.

Our five senses are not individual powers, instead, the one sensory organ affects the other.
In order to refine our senses, we should also pay attention to our body rhythm while we eat: Eating in an uncontrolled way, chewing or drinking hastily, also leads to disharmony and to without, into the world of the senses. As soon as we become hectic, our body rhythm changes and we pick up our old habits again, like, for instance, the consumption of alcohol or smoking, etc. Furthermore, very hot and very cold drinks have a disturbing effect on the rhythm of the body. They cause a revolution in the nervous system. The nerves become tense; we could say that we shock them. And the tension of the nervous system, in turn, has a disturbing effect upon the whole organism. In the long run, this may lead to serious damage to the organism. Thus, this not only makes us hectic and internally agitated, but indisposition and illness can also be the result. As soon as we get upset, that is, become restless, thoughts fly toward us or occurrences come to mind again, which we thought we had overcome a long time ago. Because of our disharmony, we have brought them back and now move them in our thoughts again. Many thoughts and events would not have to be looked at and analyzed again, if we would not touch these vibrating energy-complexes again by lowering our body’s vibration. They would dry out gradually, that is, dissolve and be just a memory in us.
